Running and loving it!

Well, after a bit of a calf issue, I am back to feeling good. I had some great workouts in the last block, but slightly tore my calf during a 400m workout. I learned a lot through the experience! Running at altitude is not like running at sea level. Simple I know, but I did not understand the consequences of going too hard. I and been finding about a 7% difference in times between 6000ft and sea level. So, my running 4:40 pace on some of my repeats was a bit premature. I feel great now and am excited to get back to some harder workouts. Training has been going great and I feel as if I will be ready to race well come the new year!
Time will tell and the countdown to the trials oscillates between coming very soon and seeming a long time from now. I do believe I will be ready to run some good steeple times come spring and compete at a high level. I will write more often and send updates on the workouts.

Back to Running

Well.
Back to running it is. I called my old coach, Joe Mendleson, and asked if he would help me out getting ready to race next year. I do miss racing and running. Triathlon is a great sport, but not for me. I like the suffering of the track workouts and the mind games while racing. Putting in 25+ hours a week was a bit taxing, and I was not able to work and train those hours. So, now I am going to focus on the steeplechase for the spring and see what I can do. I have been training a little over a month now, and things are coming back pretty quickly. It will be an interesting adventure to say the least.
I am currently managing a gym in downtown Denver, and am looking to start graduate school soon. Adrienne, my wife, and I bought a house here in Denver, and are in the process of remodeling it. It is looking great, and we are excited to see the finished product. The miles are adding up, and I am starting to feel like a runner again. I will post periodically and update the progress.
